When Victory’s multi-world champion Arif Al Zaffain parted company with the Dubai enterprise we all assumed he would vanish from the powerboat scene. However, nothing could be further from the truth as the Dubai resident and former General Manager of Victory has teamed up with Britain’s Scott Williams in a Victory built XCat, and the duo will be lining up in China for the first round of the 2017 XCat series in September.
Williams, from the Wirral, Cheshire, owns a roofing company and has participated in just a handful of XCat races. He still has to decide the name of his cat, but Dubai will be somewhere on its topside together with his sponsor’s logo. We will follow their progress with interest as the season gets underway.
At this point in time we still do not know what other boats are racing, and not even heard anything on the grapevine. Let’s hope it will be a pleasant surprise.
