ROUEN – ABNORMAL WEATHER CAUSES DELAY TO 24 MARATHON

Categories: News.

No-one expected a heatwave in Rouen for their annual test of man and machine, the 24 hour marathon on the River Seine, but they certainly didn’t bargain on snow showers, strong winds and rough waters.

The famous 24 hour battle against the elements was reduced to 17 hours and a miscount of the number of laps completed saw the Abu Dhabi team demoted to 3rd place from 2nd place. The winner of the race for the last three years, Philippe Chiappe, didn’t even make it to the podium eventually finishing 5th, but his Russian team partners in Team Nollet New Star did collect gold in the team’s second boat number 20.
