It’s been in the pipeline since December 2017, but we have been forbidden to spill the beans. However, we can now reveal that reigning world F1 champion Alex Carella has officially signed up for Dubai’s Victory Team to replace American Shaun Torrente who has moved to Team Abu Dhabi.

Italian Carella has secured four world F1 titles and he is very confident that he can add to that number behind the wheel of the brand new Dubai built F1 catamaran that is currently being displayed at the Dubai Boat Show. However, it came as quite a surprise when Alex announced his departure from the Abu Dhabi F1 team almost minutes after winning the 2017 gold medal in Sharjah, although there was an incline that something was going on when Torrente was photographed wearing the Abu Dhabi team uniform. Carella and his spokesman have been reluctant to reveal his 2018 plans although we all guessed he would be taking over Torrente’s seat in the Victory camp.
Few can argue that Victory now boasts a very powerful driver line-up as Carella joins UAE pilot Ahmed Al Hameli who is one of the best drivers in his day. If both drivers hit their best form, Victory must start the season as one of the favourites for 2018.
