Apart from Alex Carella’s victory expert predictions about the outcome of the F1 Worlds Grand Finale were mostly wrong.
When the red lights went out, Ahmed Al Hameli swept away from the grid, but the Italian Carella was in the lead when they rounded the first turn. The race was a little processional and breakdowns played a major role in the final result. Reigning champion Philippe Chiappe chased Mad Croc Sami Selio for 4th place until the Finn retired, but Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al Qamzi managed to fill third place ahead of Philippe Chiappe. Team Sweden’s Erik Stark drove a great race to finish runner-up ahead of Chiappe.
Minutes after the finish, we heard there was to be an investigation which could go against Al Hameli who might have jumped the start which could explain how he led briefly.
When the official results are released, we will publish a full report from Sharjah.
