Sharjah served up a fitting finale to close out the 2017 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship with three of the four world titles decided on a hectic penultimate day of racing on Khalid Lagoon.
Yousef Al Abuldrazzaq sealed a fourth world title in Runabout winning twice and then went on to claim his second Sharjah title finishing in third in the final Moto. Lars Akerblom’s victory in the third Moto earned him the overall runners-up slot after Brit James Bushell limped out of the decider early on. Third place in the Grand Prix went to Andrzej Wisniewski.
In Ski, rookie Quinten Bossche capped a memorable season winning the world title on his first attempt and went on to take overall victory in Sharjah winning the final Moto after Moto 1 and 2 winner Kevin Reiterer broke down, third place going to Stian Schjetlein.
In the Ladies division there was no denying Emma-Nellie Ortendahl (above) who claimed her second successive world and Sharjah title winning all three Motos comfortably, with Krista Uzare enjoying her best results of the season to take second ahead of Kylie Ellmers.
The Freestyle crown was decided on the final day and going to Nac Florjancic, but it was the UAE aerial trickster Rashed Al Mulla who stole the show winning all three Motos, Florjancic finishing in second with Roberto Mariani in third.
